Sharon Hundley, Dr.

BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sharon Hundley, Professor of Education, came to Campbellsville University in the fall of 2008.  She implemented the Early Childhood Education Bachelor of Science program that she developed for Campbellsville University. She serves as Chair of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) programs, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior to joining Campbellsville University faculty, she served as the IECE Program Coordinator at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College (ECTC) from 2002 – 2008, beginning as an adjunct instructor in 1999. Prior to that she taught Montessori 3-6 primary preschool and kindergarten for twenty years in Hardin County, Kentucky and Dallas, Texas.  She has also served five years as a Montessori Teacher Educator for American Montessori Society at Providence Montessori in Lexington, Kentucky. From 1991-1997, she was hired by the Department of Defense as the Consultant and Trainer for the Ft. Knox Discovery Program, a federally-funded preschool in the Ft. Knox public school district. She has worked collaboratively with the Belize Ministry of Education to develop and implement a national early childhood curriculum and certification program as part of a UNESCO grant. She leads the implementation of this associate degree program in collaboration with Stann Creek Ecumenical and Sacred Heart Junior Colleges in Belize. She has helped developed opportunities for education students to participate in Belize schools and conferences. She has also worked with China and Nigeria in Montessori professional development and degree programs. She serves on the School of Education Global Learning committee. 

Sharon’s research areas include Early Childhood Education Curriculum, Program development, and fostering global competency in teacher preparation. She presents workshops and participates in the development of early childhood programs globally.  

Sharon lives in Elizabethtown with her husband. They have four children and nine grandchildren. They enjoy family time and traveling.
